Using nLite 1.4, downloaded 4 days ago, I integrated my orginal Win XP CD and the downloaded network version of SP2, then used RVM integrator 1.4.3 to integrate Post SP2 hotfixes into new Xp-SP2 file. I used the unattended option to enter user name, region, and product key and then created an ISO image. When testing in Virtual PC 2007 it could not install 3 files, but the below file was not one of them, so I skipped them. When testing everything seemed going well until it got to Install Windows. Then I got:

Error: Sys.dll syntax error in manifest or policy file "D:\I386\ASMS\70\mfst\windows\mswincrt.man." (File was in the I386 folder used for original integration. Files from original CD were copied to desktop before integration.)

Error: Installation failed D:\I386\ASMS." Error message: A component's file does not match the verification information present the component manifest.

I used the How2 article from the June 2007 Maximum PC as my guide in making my first attempt to slipstream a boot disk to repair a very sluggish computer.

Any help would be appreciated.

If I understood it correctly you used nLite just for the SP slipstream and Unattended settings?
In that case nLite can't make those mistakes with files since it didn't touch them.
Try by just using nLite, to integrate RVM pack as well all in one go.
Start from the clean installation files again.

Next time if you get some file missing error that is a reason enough to quit, that shouldn't happen and it usually goes bad.
Btw redownload 1.4, it was updated, not related to this but anyway. And test your ISO in virtual pc before actually burning.
