From the “would you believe your eyes” files. According to tests carried out by PC World, the fastest Windows Vista notebook of 2007 is the MacBook Pro:

The fastest Windows Vista notebook we’ve tested this year is a Mac. Try that again: The fastest Windows Vista notebook we’ve tested this year–or for that matter, ever–is a Mac. Not a Dell, not a Toshiba, not even an Alienware.

The MacBook Pro scored 88 on the PC WorldBench 6 Beta 2 benchmark test. I’ve not used this benchmark so I can’t comment on why the MacBook Pro scored so well - I’m going to take a closer look at the WorldBench 6 scores and see what I find.

Apple takes advantage of this news by releasing a new ad called Misprint.

So, there you go. Want a fast Windows notebook - take a MacBook Pro and install Windows Vista on it. I’m not sure if that’s the kind of press Apple were looking for to be honest, but there you go!

Thoughts?

Not to mention Mac runs faster on the new Mac hardware...Which isn't really "Mac" hardware because it's Intel based ... Which only proves that they're better off not making/using they're own hardware. Kinda like they're not really using their own OS any more, they are just a Graphical Desktop for Linux.

About the only thing they really have left is a logo and an attitude ...Oh yeah, and the iPhone.

OSX does run faster on Intel hardware, but you should look at the number of bugs and complaints about Leopard. Where has all that Mac fanboi-ism gone now? Apple never made their own hardware either. The basis for these systems (PowerPC) was developed by IBM and Motorola - not Apple. The rest of the hardware (RAM, wireless cards, hard drives, etc) have always been pretty standard off-the-shelf components.

OSX also isn't based on Linux - it's Unix based (with a fancy GUI). Admittedly, there are quite a few additions to the Unix base that Apple uses, but you can still drop down into a bash terminal and hack away command-line-style. Unix >> Linux. :P

Interesting thing about the iPhone... it's running a variant on OSX. You can actually SSH into your iPhone, just like you would any other *nix system.

One thing will always hold you back if you run Vista on your MBP - Lack of right-click.
