hi all

after using vlite and removing most of the components from a vista iso i can no longer enable network discovery in the Network and Sharing Center. Everytime i try to click apply i get a error message "Class not registered"??

I guess it's because of one of the components i have removed, does anybody know which one???

any help will be appreciated...

Same problem here, I also kept the mentioned 2 components. Perhaps MDAC ? I will try tomorrow evening. If it helps, here is my LS.ini:

I just got a note that it could be UAC, please confirm.

Okay, seems as if you are right nuhi. I used the same setting, but kept UAC this time. Now switching the setting in network an sharing center works for me!

(What does not work, is the "Disable UAC Tweak", but this was already mentioned. )

I also removed UAC and file sharing doesn't work either. I need it though. Is there a way I can just install that back somehow?

Only Network Center fails and thus can't enable Discovery, File Sharing works, are you sure that others can't access your PC with the Computer name or the IP?

If they can but it asks them for password or similar then play with the policy settings.

If you just want that network discovery (for browsing through Network with Explorer without typing in the name in the address bar) then reinstall with UAC kept.

just reformatted with uac kept and the file sharing works. it's really weird how just that stupid little thing stops file sharing from working. but oh well. my computers are ready to share now.

I am having the same problems as discussed above, but I did install with UAC originally. UAC was installed but disabled. I enabled it but I am still unable to turn on Network Discovery.

Any suggestions?
