How to install Styles XP/.MSStyles Themes

There are 2 methods:
====================
1. Using StyleXP
2. Using a hacked UxTheme.Dll

Using Method 1: (ShareWare)
01. Download StylesXP from: http://www.tgtsoft.com/download.html
Goto NEXT

Using Method 2: (FreeWare) If you follow this method you are at your own, I can't guarantee you won't screw up your system
a. Grab the hacked UxTheme.dll from either location:
1. Neowin's Own Patch

If you have any questions or comments, please contact me, or post your questions in the correct sections of MSFN

no, it won't bugger your PC up. Some themes also slow your PC down slightly, depending on how graphical it is. It won't affect your internet connection whatsoever.

I recommend the hacked UXTheme dll file for anyone not wanting to buy StylesXP, or not needing such bloated software to change a theme. StylesXP and the hacked UXTheme dll file do very much the same thing to allow themes in WindowsXP.

oh wow.. i totally forgot about this thread ;-)

ya the uxtheme and stylexp basically do the same thing...

when i wrote up the tutorial about installing the file was the only thing that u could screw up... it wasn't that the concept would screw up ur comp... it was that if u didn't follow the instructions correctly... oh well..

Heck TGTsoft has thier own version of uxthemeDLLpatcher available at thier website..

Since you're such a n00b  I'd recommend StyleXP.

Using the UXThemePatcher is for experienced guys only who know what they're doing :)

Home -- there are a few sites that you will use to find almost EVERY visual style:
Theme XP -- http://www.themexp.org
Neowin -- http://www.neowin.net/bboard/forumdisplay....p?s=&forumid=36
Deskmod -- http://www.deskmod.com/

These Visual Styles ( or themes) are very cool. I change about every 2 or 3 days - currently rotating between these favorites:
Sosumi
Caution
ChaNinja
Simpli
Milk
PlaqueMod

Enjoy -- LS_Dragons

Homer, I'm going to try and help you once and for all. I'm going to try to make this as simple as possible.

DOWNLOAD THIS FILE

Unzip it, run it, and reboot.

After you reboot you'll see a new theme.

Then, you can go to http://www.themexp.org and download any theme you like. When you download a theme, unzip it to C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\

Now, right-click on your desktop and go to properties. Then change themes as you normally would.

This is as easy as i can possibly make it for you. I hope it helps.

Heh. I'm not p***ed off. It's just that so many people have tried to help you and they were unsuccessful. I'm glad I helped

Sorry about the previous post, I didn't mean to seem like a jerk. :)

Yep, wasn't that hard was it? It never hurts to try, and its something you should do in future.
