What is the point of the hacked UxTheme.dll file? does it just give you the ability to see the theme look under Disply prop>apperence..? or what?
...by the way whats the best version to use, im using the beta version 4.31...should i change?

the hacked uxtheme.dll basically allows us to use themes not digitally signed by MS which utilize the .msstyles format.. In other words we can select new themes on our computers...

For example since you said you are using stylexp.. uninstall it and try to use one of themes you have, it won't work [unless ofcourse it messed up and left the modified .dll and forgot to remove it.. but that's another story]

stylexp is a program that patches the uxtheme.dll in memory. The latest version of stylexp, adds some more functionally than just patching the file
1. adds a logon loader
2. adds a prettier screen to change themes than the defualt one we get with xp
3. patched the .dll file
4. more to come .. i guess ;-)

the best stylexp version would probably be the latest one ..stylexp beta 6.1 but as you know .. stylexp is shareware.

I personally just use the modified uxtheme.dll to accept themes
