Hello dear MSFN community,

I have some older programs (e.g. Delphi-based programs, dug up NotepadEx as an example) which are simple user applications that definitely do not need any admin privileges to run normally (BTW I can't really imagine that nLite also does), which Vista marks as such anyway (with the Windows shield overlay). How do you manage to run those on a non-administrator account without invoking UAC? I don't talk about that I want to disable UAC in any way, I want only Vista to realize that those programs should run like every other program in the user's context.

Thanks,

tageule

Consider first reading the "Non-Admin" blog by Aaron Margosis, then consider running these apps (in test) under the LUA BugLight tool to determine what about the app will trigger UAC prompts, and how to work around these issues so non-admin users can run without UAC intervention.
