after installing the new copy of Windows I noticed that the home page of Internet Explorer 7 is set to something like this go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=XXXXX (don't remember the link id number)

which redirected to a non existent page on microsoft.com (404)

I went to IE internet options and changed the home page to blank, google.com, etc... and when I clicked the Home icon it would load my home page but still when I open IE7 it goes to that go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=XXXXX

I even tried to search the registry and get rid of that link, but that link id number was not found in the registry.

hope there is a fix for this

thanks
