Anyone know how to install these drivers? The problem is that right after the setup it reboots without prompting for it. It's an installshield setup, so with the /r switch I created this response file:

[InstallShield Silent]
Version=v6.00.000
File=Response File

[File Transfer]
OverwrittenReadOnly=NoToAll

[{B023185F-F1EF-4F97-B0BD-AE6D802226D1}-DlgOrder]
Dlg0={B023185F-F1EF-4F97-B0BD-AE6D802226D1}-SdWelcome-0
Count=1

[{B023185F-F1EF-4F97-B0BD-AE6D802226D1}-SdWelcome-0]
Result=1

[{B023185F-F1EF-4F97-B0BD-AE6D802226D1}-SdFinish-0]
Result=1

Anyone got a clue what I'm going wrong?

Yep, I used the -R switch and took the SETUP.ISS file from the \WINDOWS directory. I ran the setup once more and I found out that the setup program doesn't even ask for a reboot, it just does!

I can confirm what your saying.. I too tried Aaron's 'Unattended Web Site' method of Installshield files and found that it rebooted without asking.

The link here is info on how to fix this issue, although I have not tried it my self yet as I have not burned a new disk since I read it...

My 'work around' for the 'reboot' was to run the nvidia mobo installer as the very very VERY last thing before the final shutdown command by a batch from either, the GUI RUN ONCE or by setting up reg entries to 'run once' the batch, just make sure it's the last thing it does and the restart doesn't cause any probs.

DJ Prem, you can either...

Use the standard 'installshield' method as detailed on AaronXP's Unattended Site, and if you do use this method, you must ensure that this install is the very VERY last thing the comp does before the FINAL reboot of your unattended install, as the install WILL force a reboot regardless of the settings in the .iss file, so run it just before your 'shutdown' command and the reboot won't cause you any probs...

ALTERNATIVELY...

Try the method listed in THIS post and see if that works for you without a reboot... I have not tried this my self yet and can't confirm this particular method will work, but I will be trying it when I get the chance...

In the mean time, the first method I listed works for me...

Hope that helps..

K.

The best i can think of is to extract the drivers and put it in $1\drivers\nV.
I named it nV for example that's all, name it anything u want.
Then, mention it's <dir-with-inf> path in OemPnPdrivers path in the winnt.sif.

That's what I do. FYI, it also works for nForce drivers.
AaronXP's main guide describes all this perfectly, look where he describes the ATi catalyst driver installation.

Cheers !!!

so I have been all over Aarons site looking for an answer to this one...

The problem some ppl seem to get (including me) is using the normal OemPnPdrivers path, despite the 'drivers' being installed ok, certain features don't get installed, with ATI that's the SmartGart panel that's missing, with nVida it's the SoundStorm controls that don't get installed...

Further to this, using the ISS silent install method, I have been unable to get the new version 3.9 ATI to install correctly no matter what I do, they just ain't there after reboot, despite me watching the installers running during my unattended... :) (It worked fine with everything up to 3.8, it's only 3.9 that won't work)

With nVida, I find that when I do a silent install, it will still restart the computer regardless of the settings in the ISS file and so the only time I can run this install so it doesn't reboot in the middle of my unattended, is to run it last

Perhaps it's only certain configurations that suffer this, as I'm sure many people have ATI/nVidia hardware installed, but if everyone was getting this problem I'm sure there would be more posts, and more of an effort, to find a soloution for it...

Point is.. Aarons Unattended instructions no longer work for me unless I go back to using older drivers... so reading his site yet again won't help...

setup.exe -k -s

Will install the nForce drivers silently without reboot.
