303
Don't know what I'm doing wrong here, but XP is prompting for a license key...I'm leaving the answer disk in the floppy drive the whole time...What am I doing wrong? The disk was just made a day ago. There are 4 files on it: mods.bat, mach.reg, user.reg and winnt.sif The key is encrypted on the disk, btw.I know XP didn't support this feature until SP1, but I don't think what I'm installing is any older than that. Worf
Not sure why you put those files on a floppy?Anyway, the WINNT.SIF file needs to go into the I386. As for the others, they need to go into the $OEM$ folder with the commands.ext file and add to the commands.txt file.mods.bat, mach.reg, user.reg and winnt.sif
303
Good question... that's just how bossman set it up here at work.So I need to boot into a DOS environment and copy the .sif file to that dir?I remember setting XP up over a month ago using this floppy method...I don't know anything about this $OEM$ folder stuffthe mods.bat appears to be something specific to Norton Ghost that we use hereThat's the bad thing about working Saturdays, no mgmnt!btw, what about WINNT.bat? It's not on there... Edited February 16, 2008 by
Worf
So i take it that you are not creating your own Unattended cd then?If you want to know about the $OEM$ folder and creating an Unattended cd then go here:http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/The I386 folder is on the cd, when you create an Unattended cd then you will need to copy this directory to the harddrive copy your WINNT.SIF file into that directory. When you have finnished creating you Unattended cd and burned it back to cd windows will use the WINNT.SIF file.As for the WINNT.BAT file, never heard of it.Unless someone else on here knows what bossman is doing and can help i guess you will have to wait till he comes back.
