Hey all. I'm finding that when I want to reimage a workstation from my RIS server, I must first go and delete the computer account out of AD, then I can reuse the computer name for a new account/image of PC. I'm using a customized screen in the RIS imaging text-mode setup that let's you specify what computername you want to use insted of the random one that is generated by RIS (or whatever). Is there some setting or process that will keep me from having to delete the account just to recreate it with the same PC's Name I specify and GUID? Or am I forced to delete it everytime. If I have to, I can easily write a batch file to do it. Just not sure if I have to.
Thanks in advance....
Anthony

DUPGUID.OSC is required for RIS to work properly. DUPGUID.OSC checks to make sure there isn't a machine already in AD with your unique GUID. Because there already is, RIS will not continue. You COULD bypass this, but it may have undesirable results. Since RIS creates the account in AD each time you build a PC it would cause errors when it already exists. Unfortunately I believe you will have to delete the computer name every time. You CAN build a PC with a duplicate GUID as a different computer name, just can't reuse a name.

NP. Let me know if you have any other RIS questions. I have spent the last year and a half of my life working on RIS, and I have it down like the back of my hand. You can click my SIG and find a lot of information about RIS on my website. I have a specific section devoted to RIS. Let me know what you think!

I see that... and you've helped me in the past with RIS XP SP1a problems.
I've checked your website... very nice. Thanks again for your help. Not just to me, but this whole board.
