well what about loading the system cache to it instead of the pagefile
this would shoot your io through the roof but this might be quite large for a system with 512 or less but maybe you can just load explorer.exe from the ramdisk somehow
this would make browsing your pc and switching windows much faster
i know the explorer.exe loading thing can be done ive seen it on a pc but it was done by a very good coder so it might be quite difficult to do i never asked him how he did it so im not sure
also another idea is making a ramdisk and making it your desktop folder
its a bit troublesome at times but when you have alot of icons on your desktop it makes it much better at switching back to the desktop when the system is at full load
icons dont take up much room so space wouldnt be an issue (you wouldnt be able to save files to the desktop though except maybe small text files)
and also you would need to make a script to copy the files from a backup space on your hd to the ramdisk everytime you startup otherwise youll get a blank desktop
another problem is when you make a new icon on your desktop you would need to copy it to the backup folder as well EVERYTIME!! which can get tedious unless maybe you can write a script to backup the folder from the ramdisk to the backup space on your hd on shutdown

Another alternative would be to set the Cookies ShellFolders entry to a:\Cookies.
That way your cookies would be saved on a floppy, I imagine it would access it quite often though. Maybe a startup and shutdown script to backup and restore them on/off the floppy would be a better idea.

Go to System Properties -> Advanced -> Environment Variable and set TMP and TEMP to RAMDRIVE:\Temp for the system profile and your own. This will help keep your harddrive free of unnecessary clutter.
WARNING: This may prevent WinRAR and other archivers (including installers) from unpacking large archives. You can either set another temp dir in the application if it allows or change the settings back before use.

Remember your login credentials and password using an alternative program is more secure than keeping cookies, autocomplete on, etc...

I can't find dosnet.inf after I reduce size of i386 folder. Should I copy this file from the distributive and change it accordinaly to the manual?
Anybody tried using ram-disk from http://www.arsoft-on...roduct.php?id=1 ? I tried to copy files and add some regestry settings I found with RegShot but without success.
Regards,
