That's weird.
If I right click at a jpg image and select "set as desktop background" it SEEMS like it works but then there is no background at all, just the background color.
However when I select a bmp image it works just fine (although it uses it in tile instead of stretching it to full screen)
What's even more weird is that if I go under Display>Desktop>Background the image I tried to use is the one selected in the list and if I re-try to select it that way it works fine.
Any ideas?

Erm, isn't registering EVERY dll in the system32 directory a tad extreme?
I know this could be a sure solution but it could also spell unthinkable trouble.
Just imagine some random old dll being left there from an incomplete uninstallation or update/upgrade...
EDIT: Ah, sure enough, from a quick look I see several dlls that are of the type name.dll, name(1).dll, name(3).dll etc...
