Is there any way to put the favorites in, as a reg key or something else?

i know about the winnt.sif thing but that is too long.

Use ieak to make an .ins file, or compress the favorites into a zip file then extract them during setup.

just makes these Folders in ur OEM Folder
$1\$Docs\Favorites <-- here u copy all ya html Files
its the easiest way i think or?

i have a other problem: :D
iam using D:\ as my ProgramFolder and Favorite Folder...
so when i copy my favorites in the OEM Folder it copy the Files in C:\
how can i say..copy the favorites in D:\ ? :)

i know i can make the Folders like these in the OEM Folder: D\Documents and ....\Favorites
but i cant format 2 partitions in winxp setup
when i make the 2nd Partition with PM Magic before the winxp installation then winxp detects the Partitions as H:\ I:\ or whatever cuz i have 6 Harddiscs in my System :D

should be $oem$\$Docs

you'd be better off with $oem$\$Docs\All Users\Favorites

I have a better idea... put them wherever you want... Then map the location...

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders]
"Favorites"="X:\\favsfolder"

edited because wrong key was posted at first

I keep mine on a network drive for safe keeping. :)

I tried that once then had all my favorites deleted! Thank god for r-studio, it undeleted all my favorites. So it is a good idea, but use with caution.

no need to use with caution. It will not delete anything. You must have had something else that did it.

My favorites were deleted and the only favorites where the default (msn, etc). I used the same profile and didn't delete anything. Windows deleted my favorites.

Did you use an IEAK package? Did you map the location before or after installation of IE?

Default install of server 2003 and xp. Just used tweakui to change the favorites. Worked fine for a month then all of a sudden the favorites where gone. I'll never trust windows with my favorites again.

I do not know what other changes TweakUI makes. I would assume that it does not make any other changes than the one registry key. Did you "move" your favorites or just remap them? I have yet to have a problem with changing that registry key and deleting files.

The only thing I can think of is that you might have used cmdlines.txt or another method, and IE was not completed setup. Oh well. I know that you know what you are doing, and if it happened then it happened. It sucks. I lost my favorites once, and it sucked.

I preinstall r-studio which is the best data recovery app. Even when whole partitions where lost i got most of the data back with the app. I highly recommend it.

Just because you haven't had a problem, doesn't mean a problem doesn't exist.
