I DLed and extracted the latest Beta archive and noticed that it contained a copy of 7z.exe. It is an older version (4.42) and was originally 7zd.exe (7-Zip Standalone Console Decompressor). I don't understand what is different about this special version, but there is a later version (4.57) of 7-Zip available which should be faster and yield better ratios. I also assume this is a 32 bit version. I am running XP x64 and nLite seems to work fine (although I have not been able to test my disc due to no hardware yet and no available virtual environment). Would it be better (faster) to use the 64 bit version of 7-Zip on my system?
Thanks for any insight......John

it just uses it for decompressing addons etc (maybe cab's too)
updating the version wouldn't change much mate
it would have zero effect on your final install
