Hi, I just joined because I'm hopeful that somebody might have some insight into this problem I'm having. About a week ago I borrowed a friends portable HD and got some files off of it. About a day after I started getting messages saying my hard drive was totally full. It really didn't make sense because the partition windows is on is 60 gigs and I keep most everything else installed on the other partition (except for a few games like steam). I looked around the drive and found that my windows folder was taking up 35 gigs of space which really made no sense. I tried disk clean up but it failed because there was less than 200mb free. so I moved 3gigs worth of folders off the C partition and tried again. Same problem with there not being enough space. I looked at my windows folder again and it had expanded to fill the space I freed and was now 38 gigs. I really have no idea whats going on, I started the computer in safe mode and the folder went back to its normal size. After I went back to a normal boot it was fine for about 5 days and its started all over again. I tried to start in safe mode again but now even in safe mode the whole drive is filled. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Sounds like you have a worm or bot on your machine. Scan your system offline from CD and see what you find. While you are scanning be sure to empty all temp folders.

I really hate to say it but you are likely looking at a system rebuild.
