when i am openning a file with mediaplayer from my videos folder it shows all the files in thumbnail view by default but it takes sometime to load all the files.. is there any way to change the default view style into list? create another folder for your videos is not the answer :]

Try to modify the vie props. in the particular folder that the movies are held. Do this by Left clicking in the folder selecting View>Deltails(or anything besides Thumnail. This might help...but im not sure if it will help with in WMP.

In the open dialog box, select your video folder and click the view menu button (top right)and select "list" from the drop down menu. Now close the dialog box (don't press cancel button).Close WMP.
Hopefully the next time you view the video folder through WMP,it will remember your view settings.

does it take too much time to test what you say before write it here? :]i tried it many times before you wrote it here but it doesn't work.. open dialog box's default viewing setting for all the folders is list except my pictures and my videos folders.. i think this can be changed by using regedit or something like it.. but i don't know how!

I don't give a rats a** about doing this but I tried following the directions that rev and drew gave you. Wurked like a burmese hooker on a hotdog.

Have to say now it opens up in a list. ANd I opened media player up 3 or 4 times and clicked open, and what the hell, there was a LIST of my files. But I dont give a ratz azz about this so I changed it back to thumbnails.

[b:8b2b36f3b7]nothingnoiz[/b:8b2b36f3b7] check ur tools/folder options/view and make sure that u have the "do not cache thumbs marked"
this will help ur system speed when u access these folders

or try the following

1. Go to Run in the startmenu
2. Type gpedit.msc
3. Click OK and the Group Policy will open
4. Go to User Configuration/Administrative Template/Windows Components/Windows Explorer
5. Scroll down to the bottom of the long list of stuff that now shows up in the menu on the right. Double-Click on Turn off caching of thumbnail pictures.
6. Click on Enable then Apply, Ok. And now you no longer have this annoying problem.

Thumbs.db is there so that you don't need to reload a thumbnail everytime you browse that folder
