Not working for me : Error during execution "C\windows\temp\avira\basic\setup.exe " /inf= "C\windows\temp\avira"
This application has failed to start....

This error comes on a fresh installation of windows.

At what time of installation of Windows did you try to install Avira? I tried installing it again under Virtual Machine and it works without problems. I'm using WPI to install programs for Unattended Windows.

RunOnce

The same error I've got in a fresh windows installation when I've unpacked original setup and then I've run C\windows\temp\avira\basic\setup.exe " /inf= "....".
The error has gone when I've only run original setup, not installing.

Seems as if the setup needs Visual C+ Redist installed. This should solve the problem with setup.exe not working. Can you confirm that?

Replace setup.exe with presetup.exe in your command.

Antivir presetup.exe installs Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable - x86 9.0.30729.17

I modified the file translated into ita by rainforest adding the italian version of antivir to the options:

antivir9_aom_it_en_de.exe

Tested and worked :)

Here's a tiny software (script autoIT wrote by myself)

ASC - Avira Setup Creator v1.1
It works for EN,DE,ES,IT,RU,JP version of Avira Antivir Personal v9

After using Asc, a new setup is create including latest virus definition and setup files.
Name of the new setup: Avira.exe

They are two version of Asc:
- Asc_Full.exe : safe package (include all files from original avira setup)
- Asc_Light.exe : light package (excluding old/unufull files and vcredist_x86.exe)

Removed files using Asc_Light.exe :
- vcredist_x86.exe, antivir0.vdf, antivir1.vdf, antivir2.vdf, antivir3.vdf

Don't forget that vcredist_x86.exe NEED to be installed on windows prior to install Avira !

Language: OS codelang is automatically detected from your OS and then the Asc Gui is shown in French or English depending of your OS codelang.
> French Asc Gui: generate only a french build of Avira !!!
> English Asc Gui: depending of your OS codelang ASC can produce: EN,DE,ES,IT,RU,JP Avira.exe setup -:)

MS Codelang used by ASC:
- Spanish: 040a 080a 0c0a 100a 140a 180a 1c0a 200a 240a 280a 2c0a 300a 340a 380a 3c0a 400a 440a 480a 4c0a 500a
- English: 0409 0809 0c09 1009 1409 1809 1c09 2009 2409 2809 2c09 3009 3409
- French: 040c 080c 0c0c 100c 140c 180c
- German: 0407 0807 0c07 1007 1407
- Italian: 0410 0810
- Japanese: 0411
- Russian: 0419

Any other codelang will produced an English Avira.exe build.

Switch available:
Silent installation with progress bar: -y
Silent installation without progress bar: -gm2
(no switch for normal installation)

Note: I use "Avira.exe -y" with Runonceex method, i have NOT test it at T-12 (svcpack).

Download link: New topic here

Hope this helps ^^

PS: ASC does NOT suppress the nag. Buy Antivir Premium Edition if you don't want the nag -;)

(In fact, I'm really happy, but you noticed that, aren't you ? ;) )

Edit (just after tryin') : Just a "little" thing : I dl it, launch it, it did his job, just fine, "but" when it said that "Avira.exe" was created...I have no "Avira.exe" anywhere (I looked everywhere on my PC...) it just let me with 2 files ("avira_antivir_personal_fr.exe" and "vdf_fusebundle.zip").I followed the creation process and at the end it erase all files except these two ones. I tried both full and lite version, and both FR and EN version...no difference...an idea ?

(sorry for double posting)

Indeed you're right there's a little bug with directory containing a with space character

Solution: Extract the zipfile in a dir or subdir without space, and everything should be ok.
(my fault of course i didn't think to that when i wrote the sourcecode)

Example:
Good: c:\Asc
Good: c:\MyStuff\Asc
Bad: c:\My Stuff Asc
Bad: c:\Documents and Settings\Yourname\My documents\Asc

Hope this time it will really help you :blushing:

Edit: ASC v1.1 should fix this !

Now I can really say that "you're A.W.E.S.O.M.E !!!", in the new location, it works like a charm, and now that it's in there, I saw the last screen that just flashing before that trick, "Avira.exe est en cours de création"...
And don't worry for the x64, I used it on a x86VM, but I tested it on 7x64 and it works good too.

I admit that's a good idea ;)

I've add in the English Gui of Asc all other language available from Avira official build:
DE,ES,IT,RU,JP and FR,EN of course.

Follow my previous post 63 you can download this new Asc build (v1.1)

So if you have a Italian Windows it should work, Asc should produce an Italian Avira build.
Feel free to try it and tell me if it works please ;)

Cyberyeye
