Has anyone gotten x64 WMP to play DVD movies? I have tried the K-Lite and Vista Codec Package x64, but it keeps saying it cannot play the DVD maybe try reducing the screen resolution (which doesn't help).
This error message is indicative of no codecs I believe.
WMP x32 with K-Lite works great.
Thanks!

Well, since the codecs are 32bit, how is the 64bit WMP going to use them? If you install x64 codecs, then it would work.

I have 32 bit and 64 bit codecs installed. So the 64 bit Media Player is supposed to use 64 bit codecs. My question is why the 64 bit codecs are not working.

If you look in the options, under the plug-ins tab, I think, do you see any of the codecs/plugins you installed? You'll probably see them in the 32bit player, and perhaps not the 64bit...

Re:
"options, under the plug-ins tab", which program are you referring to? WMP? K-Lite? Vista Codecs? the ffdshow video config?
thanks

The only existing x64 MPEG2 codec capable of DVD playback is provided with Vista Premium and Ultimate installations.
These system provided codecs are not transferable to other operating systems.
At this time, no other x64 DVD codec exists.

Actuslly, I am not using the ffdshow x64 experimental codecs, and I am able to use Media Player Classic x64 to play movies.

The experimental MPC Homecinema Edition (x64) by default uses internal codecs that arent avaiable to the other players.
These can be turned off in which case you'll need system installed codecs.
The current release of MPC x64 is quite buggy.
I am surprised you would choose this software over the x64 ffdshow tryouts builds which work quite well
and is what I distribute in my x64 Components release of the Vista Codec Package
FYI , the Vista Codec Package was conceived and continues to be developed right here on the MSFN forums
