hey all
i have a p4 1.3 with 256rdram and 40gb hd
i used to have winxp with sp1 installed but lately it started eating up all my memory
when i closed the applications, my memory won't clear up
so i downgraded to win2k cuz i never had any problem with it
and it's still the same
i checked for spyware and i have kav3.5 antivirus
i scanned but found no viruses
anyone got a clue?

p.s. i tweaked them all.... i disabled all the services and all that

Memory is eaten up by DLL files that are left in memory when applications are closed. You may way to use the AlwaysUnloadDLL registry tweak (might need to reboot for changes to take effect):

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer]
"AlwaysUnloadDLL"=dword:00000001

save as AlwaysUnloadDLLs.reg and execute.

There's also a number of services you can safely disable. Check http://www.blackvipe.../servicecfg.htm
