119 posts in this topic

Office 2000/XP/2003/2007 Slipstreamer, version 1.6.2

Special thanks to Camarade_Tux for providing me a web hosting!

Features:

- Creating administrative installation of your Office (Enterprise edition required, limitation created by Microsoft, Retail users - to bypass it, look here - this workaround is implemented in this tool for product released in year 2003);

- Slipstreaming service packs into your administrative Office installation;

- Slipstreaming hotfixes into your administrative Office installation;

- Creating Chained Installations;

- Unblocking Outlook attachments;

- Unblocking blocked format in Office 2003 SP3;

- Creating optimized ISO.

Supported products:

- Microsoft Office 2000 (CD1 and CD2);

- Microsoft Office XP;

- Microsoft Project 2002;

- Microsoft Frontpage 2002;

- Microsoft Office 2003:

- Microsoft FrontPage 2003;

- Microsoft Visio 2003;

- Microsoft Project 2003;

- Microsoft OneNote 2003;

- Microsoft Office 2007.

New version is out, version 1.6.2. Read changelog for changes.

In version 1.5.5 Office 2007 support is added. This is not real slipstream, Service Packs and hotfixes will be just extracted to Updates folder. Process of slipstreaming is tested with Standard and Enterprise edition. In order to improve support for Office 2007, I need list of files of all Office 2007 editions (except Standard and Enterprise), so when you load your Office 2007 into Slipstreamer, in root folder of the tool will be created file "Office2007FileList.txt". To help me, please upload this file for me.

In version version 1.6 Beta 5 workaround is added for Retail product that Microsoft released in year 2003. Workaround is tested by Lions on Office 2003 Standard Retail and it is working. If anybody have some other retail version from year 2003, please test this and post your results here. Workaround for products released in year 2002 is not added because modifications are not the same. If anyone know how to bypass limitation on these products please post here so it can be implemented.

List of updates for making your Office 2003 System fully updated [download links included] (Updated for June) :

After slipstreaming 2007 Enterprize with SP1 and 8 Hotfixes:

In Re-create SETUP.exe, the folder FILES\SETUP was not created and hence the original setup.exe was not moved and was gone.

I had to create the folder before hand.

Then the original setup.exe was moved.

But then I double click the newly created SETUP.EXE,

It had no responce.

That is my mistake. You don't need new Setup.exe for Office 2007, just for Office products released in year 2002/2003. This will be fixed in next beta.

Correct me if I am wrong.

When installing Office 2007, SP and hotfixes (extracted) are put in \UPDATES folder

MU and WU shows Office is up to date.

Then there is no need to recreate setup.exe!

I think it only applies to older office version, isn't it?

Yes, it applies only to older version. I created that menu because SETUP.exe that this tool create have some advanced options. SETUP.exe will be created automatically when hotfixes are slipstreamed, but someone may not want to slipstream hotfixes and wants advanced options of this tool SETUP.exe.

Hi mara-,

Italian Language translation updated (05/14/2008).

No. :P

There's a problem though. Multi-lines texts are not displayed correctly. It happens with several languages and at two different places.

I think you should try increasing by one or two pixels the height of the corresponding lines of text.

OK, I'll check it.

EDIT: There is no problem with program. I merged some lines. L67 and L68 and now only L67 and L86 and L87 are now L86. I done this change recently and I forgot to update English file. I'll just adapt your translation.

I can also give you some hosting space with a subdomain. ;)

That would be great. Maybe you could PM me, to give me details about hosting. Thanks.

(and rapidshare guys must have been high when they decided to put kittens in their captchas...)

And yes, rapidshare became very annoying with those cats.

I think the good name would be office-slipstreamer.yaxm.org. Thanks again for doing this.

Hi mara-

Tested 1.6 with my Office 2003 (Swedish) with some issues:

- When pasting location for setuppro.exe the information is placed in the Admin Install location field.

- When adding 3 ChainedInstall the pane and setuppro.ini is updated with 3xsetuppro.exe, not the actually file names ("comp.pack, sp1 and kb947801"). Uploading log and setuppro.ini. Note that the adding of these files to ...\setup\ChainedInstall_1 - 3 was done correctly.

Forget my question about registry entries in earlier post, it works perfect.

Swedish .lng file uploaded yesterday.

Cheers

- The first thing you mentioned is normal now, if your administrative installation of office is located on hard disk.

- The second one you mentioned is a bug. Will be fixed in next beta.

And thanks for the language update, I totally missed you post.

Use first input field to select Setup.exe of your Office 2007. Use second input to choose some empty folder on hard drive.

More details in Help file. Open in Help file this: Office Slipstreamer Interface -> Tab: Slipstreamer.

Have tested v.1.6 beta 2 and the Slipstreamer ran very smooth. When doing re-installation of Office I noticed

one issue:

The registry is not updated with the slipstreamed hotfixes. \Setup\Hotfixes.reg is created properly and when running it manually everything is ok. Checked with MS Update: No updates.

Can you give me more details? Did you repaired installation, or you completely removed office and then installed it, or you just updated it (this happens when you slipstream hotfixes and office installation asks you to update existing office on your system)?

As soon as you give me more details I'll check this. I don't see a reason why this would not work, since I did not change anything related to this.

Cheers ;)

I did the re-installation according to my usual procedures:

1. Created a new Office setup using Slipstreamer 1.6 B2 including hotfixes and Comp.pack patches. I always do this with a clean copy.

2. Created a new unattended setup. Used my old Unattended.mst as input.

3. Uninstalled Office from the Control Panel.

4. Checked the registry that Office and Comp.pack was gone.

5. Installed the new Office setup (unattended). So far everything was ok.

6. Checked the registry and Office and Comp.pack patches was there but no Office patches.

7. Checked ...Setup\Hotfixes.reg if something was wrong, but the file was ok. Ran the file manually and checked the registry again. Now the patches was registered ok.

8. Checked with MS Update if something was missing but it was ok.

Cheers
