Hi there I've been using creative muvo 128mb
it started to suck on long trips! and lacks some stuff
so I want to buy another creative product
which is nomad jukebox zen
there are 3 types of zen
1. zen
2. zen nx
3. zen xtra

they've different storage capabilities
I'm interested in 20-30GB. not 60

I was looking at the other thread
as un4given1 mentioned Dell's mp3 player looks nice basically a copy of zen.
but i'm not sure if I want dell mp3 player

I'm not interested in the mac players I use xp! :)
it may be smaller but I don't really like the color of it.

anyways does anyone have any of the 3 products I've mentioned
I've gone through a lot of pages and one says
they've lithium ion battery other says something else
one says it has 2.0 other says it supports 1394 & usb 2.0

I really like the blue back lid by the way not the green one...

help me out I'm confused!!

the ZEN looks heavyduty. The iPod to me looks cheap and like it would break if you ever drop it. I still like the Dell though. :)

Nomad Zen Xtra 30gb.
if anyone's interested amazon.com has a great deal with it
best I found amongs the other sites.

also some dude's selling his 60gb zen with full of mp3's
guess what its $700.

I have a creative jukebox zen firewire, one of the 1st made, i wouldn't swop this for anything, screw your Ipod's, it's stable, can hold any file you can throw at it for storage, it's 1 kick a** piece of kit, i really dont understand why people would who own a pc would buy an ipod thats made for a crapple mac, after all there made for a mac, the most uncompatable piece of computer in the world. zen rules, it's the highest volumed mp'3 player out there (unless you install the latest update that caps the db level to 100 :)

down with ipod, its a crapple mac.

umm i have an apple mac, i can't get 95% of software thats made for a pc, yeh i brought the right pc NOT

(yes i have a pc im not stupid )

I don't understand why they've stopped producing the firewire one
I think it was the best.
I could hook fm wired controller
I could use both usb 2 and firewire when needed.

now I only have usb 2 and no fm wired controller support but my screen has one extra line than yours :)

he was just joking
the looks of it gives the impression that its plastic
and very easily breakable
it doesn't have to be of course.

straight up, i got me the ipod 20gig couple weeks afer also looking at both thoroughly (online and in store) this is what is my own experience with both:

zen xtra(in store):

screen was some bigger and good enough, but the text looks like crap and the lil side wheel looks/scrolls like its about to break any minute.. also theres far not as many extras as with on the ipod.. the controls are on the side and are a little hard to press down on..quite invconvienent..

ipod 20gig (in store):

looks awesome, chrome back of it tends to get fingerprints on it too quickly imo.. other then that its got awesome lcd light and button light also many functions, EVERYTHING is customizeable, even the main menu and the backlight can stay on for 2,5,10 or always on which is very neat when u use it allot at night (u just touch it and it lights up)..

ipod 20gig (purchased)

the navigation is awesome, albums, genres, artist its very nice.. also if ud go into genres u hit the genre ud like to listen to and then u can either hit the artist u want to see the songs of (sorted by albums) or browse the albums..PC SUPPORT... pc users have 100% the features that mac users have mac states this themself and its true, i believe the rumors were when it just came out b/c mac has worked there way up with itunes and win software..u can use it as storage just as easy or maybe even easier as the zen..

get the ipod u wont regret it..

I've already bought it
should have waited for a review like yours
but how long could I wait :D
I had been trying to find a good comparison over the net

anyways I kindda new that apple would be better its just that I didn't like the looks of it. I know its smaller than zen. and the screen may look better (I didn't know that)

Apple's the lead in many things right now. Even with its hardware in Computers. and maybe the os, I haven't used it much I don't know much about it. But i still prefer Pc since I'm so used to it.

If ms doesn't really die at some point I won't switch to an apple or any product of it...(maybe Flyakite's mac os pack :) )

Thanks for the help really appriciated!

where were you before!

I plan to get an IPOD soon hopefully but the one thing that turns me away is something I read on this homepage how a replacement battery is like 250 bux. Now thats just insane. I would just put a "dynamite" style batterypack on the back. ahh well thats me.

@XtremeMaC how do u like it?

It's shipping I haven't recieved it yet
I'm looking forward to recieve it on 8th

though I didn't understand the battery problem.
Why would you want to change it? (at least right away)
isn't rechargable?
I'm lost

most rechargeable batterie's life span decresse over time and teh batery needs to be replaced. it all depends on how much you use it (i asume). It says in the manual not to drain the battery.

there was this guy who went around writing on apple posters that the battery last only 18 months, but this is the older battery. All these people changing the batteries have the older 1st or second generation ipods, which have different battery types and are older.

Hi again!
I just recieved my zen Xtra
I love playing with the new toys :)
its very good looking
I love the lcd and everthing bundled. the battery looks like the new nokia batteries (slim ones)
nice and easy buttons good menu. little lack of the software
but we've notmad explorer 8 for better software replacement

other than this it could be a little thinner and smaller.
(I don't understand 1 thing how come its has the same size with 60gb one?) make it smaller for smaller hdd!
(of couse its a selling technique. but still smaller smaller SmALleR

something that annoys a bit: the carrying case. I had to push it hard to fit the zen into the case. the button hardly closes but not important

$262 from amazon.
I had posted pictures before u can find them on the net.
anyway here are some pictures I personally took. You'll see that I'm not that good of a photographer :) maybe with a better camera.
I've sony dsc-p51(I bought it since I just wanted a digital at that time. I didn't really care about the specs of the camera  ) I regret poor quality!

edit: I've removed the pictures
pm me if you want to see the pictures...

heheh
thanks xtreme
very very sweet
congrats to u mate...makes my mouth drool
and oh by the way. if ur lookin for a nice camera, try the olympus C 350. Its a beaut. I bought that plus 128 MB olympus memory card for about US$300
specs:

3.1 Mega Pixels
3.0x Optical zoom

worth every penny
only drawback is tht after taking each picture you have to wait for about 5 seconds
i dont mind though

cheers
danish
