If you remove bcdedit.exe, you can not turn on or off Data Execution Prevention (DEP).
You even can't set an exception.

Some software does not work with DEP on, like first version of google outlook sync tool.

Can I protect bcdedit.exe in vlite?

Possibly.
Under [Protection]
in your preset file.
