Update from what i said earlier, i just got frustrated and did another clean install. And that seemed to work. I installed norton corporate 2003 no problem. Then i setup my dsl modem usin the build in tool. Connects fine. But as soon as i download over 150kb the program im usin and my mouse freezes, only being solved by a reboot. Doesnt matta which app is doin the download, ie, outlook express, norton liveupdate. I cant even run microsoft update to see if there is a fix. Any ideas? I could install the programs that came with the modem, see if the problem is there, i dont want to though, sbc yahoo is one bloated piece of software.

note that my laptop runnin the same software works with the modem fine, and there seems to be no problem.
