Above link is the processor support page for your board.
P4 1.60 up to P4 3.20 and/or Celeron 2.0 up to 2.80
There are board revisions that also determine processor support. Links are on the page.

creeps!
for the motherboard
do you have any specific reason to be buying an intel board?
I've one intel board I don't like it.
I've always used Asus. (better support new updates patches...etx)
(sis chips are better
but I don't know about the new hardware releases.
I only look at the laptops these days and they don't get that much upgrade attention. (I hope they'll be upgradeable some day!!) I don't see why!)
hmm I like this cpu
http://www.intel.com/products/desktop/proc...ow_prod_031103&
also I see u wanting a big upgrade (I guess since u wanna know the max speed
you might want to check xeon

I have the 3.0c and i dont notice a huge increase in performance over my 2.4b.
The ne ee series are going to have a lager cache and should post a larger increase in performance.
But like i said..if your willing to wait, the CPUs just hit the market, and are very expensive!
I say wait will after Xmas and they will have droped a bundle.

The board was tested against 24 Boards with the 865/875P Chipset and proved to be the slowest board in the bunch caused by conservative memory timing - but this is Intel's corporate policy. Next year (mid 2004) Intel will introduce the Grantsdale chipset, so we might see an improvement then.

I should tell you this
if p4's temp is around 24C amd's around 60C
I've a huge fan, 5 fans actually, it only dropped to 54C.
so if heat's important to you go with intel. I bought it cause it was cheaper.
by the way the new micro systems are very cool. The box is very small and has everything integrated...

but If you want further experiences from ppl u should check tom's hardware.
that's my own experience which I regret won't happen again.
unless the new 64bit chips are good? I haven't read anything about it
some ppl said its better than intels 64bit but don't have any idea if its true
and amd's 64bit cpu is 32-bit os compatible...
