The Compaq web site usually has upgrade CDs and in some cases full edition CDs especially designed for your Compaq. Unfortunately, most (not all) Compaq PCs use a hidden partition that makes it almost impossible to install a differen't operating system. Some of the newer PCs even have code in the BIOS that also makes it impossible to change the OS. Thats why you need the special CDs from them. I have found the easiest way is to just go their web site and get a telephone number and call them. Have your model number and receipt ready. They ask a lot of questions. They also charge you for the call in some cases.

Also, check gosh's thread HERE about PE. Some good tips and resources. Oh, the iso you have to make yourself I think. Most likely be better of just buying the retail editions and a new hard drive for all of this. Unless, the BIOS in your PC is locked. Thats another story.
