Hey Everyone,

I'm looking for some assistance on how to make an XP installation from USB key using the same CD installation style.

I've read bucket loads of posts which all seem to be using much more complicated methods of multibooting/BartPE type scenarios. Much more complex than I require at this stage.

All I'm after is:

Install XP from USB using the unattended installation which is normally burned to a CD.

I'm not after multiboot options (yet) but that seems to be the big thing right now and everyone's more or less focusing on that (I'm a bit behind) but in this scenario, all I'm wanting is a single installation on the stick so I can test the integration of Mass Storage drivers for different hardware models on XP.

Are there any guides left out there that don't go down the multiboot/BartPE route?

Thanks heaps!

Ben

The Tutorial at BootLand on Install of XP from USB is what you need.

http://www.boot-land...?showtopic=4900

Preparing a Bootable USB-Drive with USB_MultiBoot.cmd Involves:
  • Format USB-stick like a Bootable Harddisk Drive with NTLDR BootSector
using PeToUSB or HP USB Format Tool
  • Select from the Main Menu of USB_MultiBoot.cmd
1 - Give XP Setup Source Folder and give UserData for XP Setup
    2 - Give USB-Drive Target
3 - Make Bootable USB-Drive with XP Setup Folders
Install of XP from USB requires to Reboot from USB-Drive
and Select from Boot Menu: 1. Begin TXT Mode Setup Windows XP

In the Basic use of USB_MultiBoot_10.cmd you don't have to bother about MultiBoot or BartPE features.
You can use the program just to prepare your USB-stick for Install of XP from USB.
