:) The Dev Team is proud to anounce our first colaboration: RegTweak XP

UPDATE!
Current build (v0.52b) can be downloaded from: Here

The program comes in the form of an installer (msi) and with some sample tweaks loaded by default. Intended for WindowsXP Machines only! if you are running a different Os it would be good to know if it will install on it, however we STRONGLY recommend you do not use it to alter your registry in any way.

The program can be used to build custom Registry tweak files for use on your Unattended CD, Tweaking your own Registry on the fly, or exporting tweaks to single .reg files for whatever use you may have for them.

Please post any bugs you may find in this thread, suggestions also welcome.

Thanks to RaduKing for doing all the coding!

Congratulations to all concerned!!!! Very well thought out and look forward to its future refinements and additions!!!!

:)

The program installed perfectly, creating required folders and desktop short cut. I had no problem what-so-ever starting and using the program! I tried the various options available, all went smooth as pie!

@Tbone1

I wonder why you had a issue? Weird!

Installed good on my PC. (XP SP1 Pro) Looks really nice...

I do have an addition I would like to see... How about a "Refresh Explorer" button that would kill explorer and restart it? Sound good? Maybe not a button, but make it a drop down item.

Here I go again... How about 2 drop down boxes... one for catergories, and the second for REG keys under that catergory? (2nd gets populated by 1st) I know it's only a BETA and all, but those are just some ideas.

Good work peeps! :)

I've just installed and had the same problem with the shortcut.

Shortcut pointed to "C:\Program Files\MSFN\RegTweak XP\RegTweakXP.exe"

Program was installed in C:\Program Files\MSFN\RegTweakXP.

HAHA... one more... How about an item that when you do a REG key it backs up what it replaces, then you have the ability to revert back too...

Ready for me to shutup yet? :) How about the ability to click or highlight a key in the window and right click and "Goto key in regedit" or something. Would be a neat addition.

Edit: I just keep comming up with ideas.

What about the ability to highlight a key (as above) but click a button to "Compare." Where it would open a window next to it with the same key and current configuration.

AND... Are there plans to make this item work with a remote PC?

Keep in mind. I am just throwing out ideas. I know that some of them may not be items you would like to do, some might not be possible, and some might just be too hard to impliment. I know that none of them would be done TOMORROW... just maybe items to think about for future releases?

It serves a similar purpose as TweakXP...

@un4given1 - do you ever sleep? :) It hasn't even made it out of beta yet and you've already had it rewritten for a new version.

Like I said.. They are just ideas. :) And, no, I don't sleep.. Actually, I have gotten no more than 3 hours of sleep any one day in the last 2 weeks. (I take that back.. I slept in on Saturday)

Alanoll, thats in the pipeline. Raduking has built that into the program for later, Tweak packages will be downloadable, perhaps from within the program itself.

Then you can select which to use with your project .reg file.

Also the purpose of this program is to make building your custom tweak file for your unattended Windows CD a whole lot easier. No more hunting around on these forums or on google for tweaks, poking about in regedit looking for keys and having to copy and paste them all into a file.

i think the idea is to have different tweak packs for say: performance tweaks, visual tweaks, system tweaks, etc etc.

Thats in Radukings hands though.. thats just how i think hes going about it. You can also create your own tweak collections and save them, so that you can pass them onto friends etc and they can import them into the program. The shortcut bug is myfault, i thought i had fixed it, doh, i will sort that out and replace the installer.

Thanks folks :)

@Un4given.. you could have posted all that in the Dev forum BEFORE we got this far with it  nice ideas matey...

What would you like to do if the list of tweaks grows up? Right now it's clearly arranged. Did you think about categories of tweaks like service (on/off) Tweaks, desktop tweaks ...?

And yes :) , i realized that it is beta!

im sure Raduking will see them here. but.. thats the whole idea of the dev forum, push/pull ideas till something drops out the other end :)

The remote registry idea is a good one... might be a bit dodgy though. theres firewalls, NAT, to consider before you even start messing with the rest.

@Daze.. arranged? heh. i just put those into it so that there would be at least something for you guys to play with and test the program, i didnt arrange them in any way, just picked them at random.

as i said above, i think Radukings idea is to have different tweak packs with the program. some will be distributed with it by default, others you can download and add them. i expect you will be able to have them all open at once.. or just the ones you want to show in the list. This will keep the program simple to use and also enable the end user to go through their tweak list in some orderly fasion.

Performance tweaks > visual tweaks > stop > load service Tweaks > etc.

Making offline installation possible too would be great, so you can do repackages (if needed) of the installation with the latest tweaks.
