I also tried searching thru forum, but can't seem to find anything.

NO, you did not.
If you had you would have found a zillion threads where people asking about Hiren's have been told to read the Rules:

OK, as long as I know, hiren's is not warez software (or whatever u call it), but, even hiren's is not *must to*. What about Win7 and WinXP? Can that be done? And, I did searched the forums, but didn't search for *hirens* but for *win7 and windows xp*; *windows 7 windows xp*; *7 xp*, and all other stufff. I didn't even thought that hiren's could make any troubles... Anyways, it's too late here to try Win7 & XP now, so I'll try it tomorrow, and sorry for asking about Hiren's. I really had no idea it's forbidden, warez, and that it could make any trouble. First thing in the mourning, trying WinXP & 7 installation...

Download latest version of this wonderful program and you must have Windows install CD/DVD *.iso file downloaded from somewhere if you has not a CD/DVD drive. That's all you must have. A program's nice intuitive GUI itself will tell you how to use it! Install your Windows from pen drive and use your own serial number for OS you purchased! Very simply and you doesn't be computer expert.
O.K. My english is poor, sorry Posted Image

Have you downloaded it?
Have you READ the "readme.txt"?

And the contents of the "\Docs\" directory?

Well, try with "latest stable". ;)

The general idea is that a "beta" is an evolution of the "stable", reserved to people already familiar with the "stable".

Or, if you prefer, "stable" is for "normal users", "beta" is for "beta testers" , a club which you can join allright :thumbup , as soon as you get the hang of the program and become familiar with the procedures :).

Beta6 works very fine. I think if a man does not understand such a simple case, then better i suggest for him to not do it, otherwise he break his computer ... More questions will arise for - How to boot from USB stick later.. and - why my computer not show my USB flash drive at boot time... adn more, and more. Just Google for it - for those questions Google has ready answers.

So does "stable".

I think that everyone should try and learn, and if you do think you understand something more than another peep, instead of sporting your (assumed) superiority , you should try and help him.

At 19 posts you are not in the condition (yet ;)) to be annoyed by posts of a newbie.

Everyone has been a newbie (and still is in some fields) so let's not demoralize newcomers, OK? :)

O.K. :) Sorry.

Offt.: I'm not a programmer, just a computer specialist. If someone know the Latvian language, I tell him all the very detailed and clearly!
In my compurer-forum in my country, I am not a newbie (I have more than 1000 posts :) Here is my fault that well not know how to write in English. And I have difficulty explaining these simple things in English. Google translator, which I use, does not understand many things clearly tell.

Sorry again.

Sure, it is possible, but:
  • it's not easy
  • has nothing to do with WinSetupFromUSb (which this thread is about)

You can:

Hi everyone, It has been a long time since I have posted anything on here. I have a problem was hoping some one could point me in the right direction. I apologize if this problem has been posted before. Here is my dilemma: I am making an XP Pro Sp3 32b install using Windows 7 Ultimate 64b. The version of the WinSetupFromUSB is 1.0 Beta6. Now I have been able to run this quite frequently with no problems up to just recently. The problem is that it is able to load the USB Thumb drive until where it is unable to modify a setup file then it just quits to the desktop. Due to your file quota requirements I am unable to attach the log file to this posting so here it is embedded in the post:

I have attached the file in question mentioned ubove in the log file.

Thanks for any assistance you maybe able to offer.

Thanks ilko_t,

I thought the samething as you did, but for different reasons. The program was working fine until just recently I had installed McAfee. So I figured I would just uninstall it... Well this little action has caused no small stir in my system. After the uninstall, things stopped working in Windows 7. So I reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate 64b with all the upgrades, patches that Microsoft had to offer including drivers for my system, but without the McAfee Antivirus. Still no go.

I have downloaded another copy of BETA6 and uncompressed it with 7zip. Still no go.
I have copied all the files from my XP SP1 cd thinking that maybe I have a corrupted file. Still no go. Same message comes up all times.

I am wondering if Windows 7 during its install, does it utilize files that were part of the previous install. Cause I didn't wipe the partition when I install Windows 7 thinking that Windows 7 would do that for me or give me the option to do so like the XP install does. However I did tell Windows 7 installer to make a fresh install not an upgrade to the existing install.

BTW, I know this question may come up at some point, but when I copied all files from XP SP1 CD, I used these very same files untainted by nLite or any other special install routines and it still failed.

I am out of options here. Maybe you can think of something that I didn't. Well anyway, I can't think of anything else to say in regards to this.

Thanks,

Macster

Ps. I have updated my previous message with the latest log report hoping maybe you would see something or a trend. Anyway, I am done at this point. Thanks for looking into this and the previous search you did into my problem. I kinda figured with 55 pages of responces there had to be something on this that I just didn't see. Sorry. I am terrible at searching. It requires a creativity that I at times lack. One more thing JaClaz I like your anology on the Dell BOIS coding - your randomization routine example. I couldn't stop laughing and totally agree. I wouldn't own one even if someone gave me money to take it off there hands. (Well maybe... ;)

Can you zip and attach the last few WinSetupFromUSB.log files? If you cannot here, upload the zip file somewhere, www.datafilehost.com for example.
The last one is in program directory, the previous ones are in the backup folder.
