Seamonkey 2.0a3 works!

Installed KernelEx 4.0 RC2 in 98SE with 98Lite (removes IE and all its components).
The Seamonkey install requires Compatibility set to Win2000SP4, as does Seamonkey.exe.

The install failed to finish, but all files were installed.
It did NOT pick up old settings, and did NOT respond to being run with -GRElocal; the profile was installed in the default \Windows\Application Data\Mozilla\etc.
I will have to do the fixups manually. This could be a bug in the Seamonkey alpha.

But it works fine, if a bit slower than Seamonkey 1.1.14. Could be it's just slower.

Thanks, guys!

Last Notepad2 - Homepage Notepad2 works OK with KernelEx!

My setting (:
[PerApp]
Notepad2.exe=win2000

(NOTE: First edit kexver.ini Notepad.exe=win2000 / replace notepad.exe with notepad2.exe!)

Skype runs

Hmm, not Skype 4.0, correct? I think 3.8 was the last one to work.

Has anyone tried the latest Yahoo Messenger 9 (YM9)? In the earlier page of this thread, it was posted that the Beta version of YM9 doesn't even install.

FFDSHOW Universal DirectShowDecoder works fine with KEX 4.0.
It crashes in plain W98SE.

Spybot Search... ??? Why with KernelEx? This program compatible with "normal" win 98. Spybot: many system resources, Tea Timer too.

FlashPlayer 10 - Firefox (2.0.0.20, 2.0.0.22pre, 3.0.7) and Opera /last (install with kernelEx 4 and with "regedit tricks") same problem: test imageshack.us with flash navigation - error, not browse.
Backup to old version....

!? Sure, Gimp 1.x works without the extension, but what's the lastest 2.x version that still works? Wasn't GTK+ an issue?

The latest version of Winamp has an error with KEX4. Installed with a few details, but finally installed. After installation, it runs a setup program for Winamp, which it hangs at the end. And it's consuming all CPU.
I guess if you modify some registry to disallow the run of the configurator, it may run, but i dont know.

Sorry for my bad english!

Wakoopa Works!

For installation needs temporary replacing of [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion] VersionNumber key to "5.10.2600" to install - DON'T FORGET to change it back!!!

And need change the compatibility mode to "Windows NT 4.0 SP6".

The latest Download Master works with KernelEx (and already does not work without it).

JNES, a relatively-decent NES/Famicom emulator, installs and runs if you set to win2000 or higher.
http://jabosoft.com/?articleid=96

Note, with the most recent release I had to select any language but english to avoid a fatal error. If you want english, use the ??? setting just above it, which is most likely default.

+_+

Also, the newest GIMP (2.4.6 or something like that) does install but pops up a wonderful error screen filled with little square placeholder boxes. Maybe it doesn't like unicows?

Really? I think the last version running on 98SE/ME is 2.2.17 which is way older than 6 months.

I could never run a version higher than that one with or without KernelEx.

Yes, Skype (without video) install with MSI (!) install pack without KernelEx. I provide this version:

New version MSI Skype - Skype 4.0 for Windows Business version with (MSI)
