So I just made a "lite" version of Vista. Mainly took away useless stuff like extra languages, Printer drivers and the speech to text. Upon my first boot up, I have 5.5GB used (after shutting off Hibernate, Page file and System Restore). After installing 180MB of updates and rebooting, the Windows folder is now 10.5GB (Software distribution folder is only 95MB so it isn't a bunch of updates sitting there).

Anyone knows what this could be? Why would it first boot up as 5.5GB used then go up to 10.5GB?

(I checked to make sure the settings I took away aren't still here. All the languages on the list are there, but the only keyboard settings that aren't in English are the ones I kept through VLite).

Here is my config:

That would be Shadow Copies (System Restore/Previous Versions)

I turned all that off right when I got into Vista (System Restore, Previous Versions, Hibernate, Page file - anything that really eats a chunk of space). And this is within the Windows directory itself (went up by 5GB).

Tried another rebuild and reinstalled. The ISO size was 1.6GB. After Vista was installed and updated, my Windows folder is 9.68GB (Vista Ultimate 64bit SP1). Is this a normal size (I forgot what the standard Vista Ultimate 64bit install size was)?

The settings I removed were in the first post. Another odd thing, is that I took out all the languages but they keyboard templates are still here (when I preview the other language keyboard settings).
