is the project now published?

We're putting off publishing until the last minute (sometime around the 20th August) so we can clean up and get everything ready.

I've just been so bogged down with normal work I'm finding it hard to get the time to work on xpize. But I promise it will be done...eventually.

UPDATE::

W3bbo has made the NEW website !! Go onto xpize's homepage and take a look :) [ http://www.xpize.net/index.php ]

Great props to him for a complete revamp of the site !! Feedback and comments and greatly appreciated ;) . The website will continue to experience changes. Please be patient and let us make 'em.

The rumours of xpize's demise have been greatly exaggerated! Almost a year since the release of the last update to XPize (4.7b2) a new release is on the horizon.

...and this release will be bigger and better than ever before!

xpize 5 (now all lowercase because it's fashionable) will see the codebase rewritten in C# to remove the dependence on ResHacker and enable further improvements.

Well, it's more than a rewrite. It's a total re-organization. More details will be forthcoming in the next few days. But we're aiming for a release date around Mid-September 2008.

XPize 4.7b2 and earlier editions will still be available, so don't worry.

EDIT::
vize Website revamp will come soon ;) !!

**Anolis publication will be here in about a week !!

Actually, I'm afraid we may have to move the xpize 5 release date to October, potentially November.

Y'see... in August I need to finish redoing my LAN and Active Directory (Thanks to a mistake I made in Q1 2005), then in September I'll be away for 2 weeks on holiday, probably Sicily, and then I'm off to University (Birmingham UK, Computer Science) on the 22nd September. All whilst doing this I need to spend a lot of time on getting my unrelated businesses working and providing a steady stream of income to support my studies.

I think I'll aim for an alpha or beta release in late-September with a solid RTM following extensive testing in November.

Modifications to make it work for Vize should be minimal. I anticipate Vize II in December, more likely January.

Great news! :D

I can't wait for this lovely stuff :D

Maybe i soon can go back to Windows XP now...without having the outdated design coming from the original XP :D

Will there be support for XPize integration to XP-installation disc?

prebenandre,

Most likely, we will have it. It is one of the biggest features of the original architecture.

BUT !! I can't speak for everyone on the team. W3bbo is the project lead and will be programming the crux of the new architecture. Many others will be able to add packs (again, nothing's set in stone here) and have swappable themes and styles into it.

I am not completely sure how the new architecture (built on C#) will translate into slipstreaming. But, if it isn't in the first new 5.0 (alpha/ beta), we might/ will be looking to add it into the future.

First is first:: Get the program set, architecture written, and have it's ability to patch the OS perfect to near 4.x effect or greater. After, we will add features and stuff that will make XPize's/ Vize's capabilities expanded.

Right now, just be patient. The program will be worked on, no doubt about that ;) .

Hi guys,

Thanks for the invitation however after some careful thinking I have chosen to decline your offer.
I wish you all good luck in continuing the XPize project.

TTFN,
Antonio

Thanks for the reply, zedox.

Remember if you ever change your mind at a future time, contact us ;) .

And, also remember that you can perhaps still contribute to XPize 5.0 by developing **add-on packs** (from what I understand, similar to nLite's style) for your Darkside (or more) once the architecture and the program is finalized. Just keep an open mind to the possibilities :) .

ANNOUNCEMENT:

Project Anolis is up in CodePlex. Check it out at http://www.codeplex.com/anolis .

W3bbo is busy working on things now, but I'm sure that he will be able to work out the code more in the coming weeks.
