Hi All !!

I need help making ActiveSync 3.7 unattended into Windows2000/XP. As I se it there are no parameters to make it unattend.

Do anyone have any experiens with that prog ??

The older version (3.5), I made in SMS, but somehow it must be possible to make it real unattend. :)

Thnx and mery Christmas all :rolleyes:

:rolleyes: I did it finally. What I did was actually copying original ActiveSync 3.1 CD published by MS. Cause, original CD had its own directory(or folder) structure. I had to add extract msasync.exe /T:<folder> /C option. Compared with original CD. Then according to KB313301, made silent.ini, last, setup.exe /s "silent.ini".

Actually, I couldn't suppress the window(copying files...). It seems like /qb option.
What I'd like to do is like /qn option. I want really silent installation of activesync.

Any idea? :)

1. Run MSASYNC.EXE /T:"C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\as"
2. Don't exit setup, copy C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\as" to C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\as2"
3. Exit setup
4. Make C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\as2\silent.ini":
; Settings for silent install
[ActiveSync]
InstallDir = %ProgramFilesDir%\Microsoft ActiveSync
UsePreviousPort = 1
CommPort =
ResetRasServerPorts = 1
DesktopIcon = 1
Reboot = 1
5. Run Setup.exe /s silent.ini
6. Enjoy :)

Will this also work on v3.1?

Don't forget to right click on setup.inf and select install.

This will create the file structure for activesync if you are using the package downloaded from the windows web site.

Can someone post the unattended switches for ActiveSync 3.8 as the earlier switches and other techniques are not working.
Thanks!

Hi All,

I am trying to install activesync 3.8 on my laptop. Upon clicking the msasync.exe it just seems to extract some files and then do nothing; no installation set window nothing.

I see a process in my task manager msasync.exe (i also see a process is_setup) running for hours but nothing happens.

1. I have disabled all anti-virus before starting installation
2. Disabled the microsfot anti spyware. So much so did a restore to the point before anti spyware was installed and then tried again.
3. I have outlook 2003

Any help in finding the problem and resolving?
