   I am looking a free software for Web Filtering

1. Active content - Ability to block ActiveX, Java Applets, Java/Visual Basic Scripts and Pop-up windows in web pages

2. Privacy guard - Ability to block cookies and referrers in web pages

3. Advertisement blocking - Ability to block web page advertisement (banners).

4. Parental control - Possibility to block some web sites because of its content, based on a database of such sites, domain names (playboy.com) or keywords in web pages ("explosives", "violence", etc).

Thankyou.

i doubt you can find a piece of software that has all those features and is free. but i could recommend downloading musiccity morpheus from www.musiccity.com and using that file sharing program to get norton internet security 2002 which has most of the features u mentioned.. :)

This is a program I've been using for a year or so now. it's called The Proxomitron. http://proxomitron.org/ It has I think all the features you asked for and more. Let me know if you ever need any help getting it set up.

http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0-18964...ml?bt.48575.185
get the morpheus software here. Its free. Download it, configure it with a username etc...
Run it, click search tab, and type in Norton Internet Security
A s***load will pop up. Just download the one that will take the least amount of time!

edonkey is at the above address. Download it, configure a username and password. then type the same thing in the search. However, you must click the server tab, and/or connect in the top right corner of the program to get onto a server! Once there, the search will work.

or you could try this inactive link

hey Big Booger, I think its best to stay away from Norton Internet Security. I like their antivirus program and all, but even that seems to take too much control of my computer at times, which I hate. I now use AVG Antivirus which is really good so far and free. THe Proximitron is a very small program which takes up very few system resources but Norton Internet Security on the other hand takes up much more resources especially if you dont have a lot of memory to spare.

No problem guys, i'm glad I could help out. Bobby

yes it works fine on Win XP because I am running it right now. No problems whatsoever. They have the new 4.1 version out too which fixed a few bugs. later Bobby

Okay I have download the Proximitron 4.1 and I have blocked a number of site which is not a problem, what I did pick up was when I block the web site I don't like it keep coming up showing a blank screen and I hate to keep on closing the blank screen which I have blocked.

Can this software Proximitron do a autoweb close when the site is blocked, I hope you understand what I am trying to say MaLuBoB cause your the only person has been using it all the time.

Speaking about the AVG Antivirus which is really good so far and free!
do you have a web site for this information I would like to have a look if you don't mind sharing.

As for Norton Anti Virus it does take up alot of memory from the windows system memory, which worries me sometime when I get a crash.

I do like Norton Anti Virus which is very good and it keeping update all the time on the latest virus update patch, and wondering if AVG Anti Virus does the same thing and not taking up the windows system memory.

Thanks for your time.

From now on, lets try not to go away from the original topic. Create a new thread with your new topic.
It just provides an oppurtunity to grab the attention of more users, especially since some users don't bother checking some threads.

I am referring about Anti-Virus discussion.. heck there is even a thread dedicated about AVG:

I second that recommendation. I've been using it for about two years. I get extremely few spam mail. I can block ads and as a result speed up my browsing.
