DX9.0 is not made for Windows 2003 Server. Besides why would you want DX9 on a server!!! It is meant for games and workstations. My 2 cents worth

uh... you can install it on it, and i also made my server a workstation. Its one of the windows updates, so i'm confused why the update isn't varified.

Have you tried the DirectX 9.0b Redistributable instead?

I downloaded directx from http://www.microsoft.com/directx and it worked for me. Read Win2k3 as workstation guide, might be usefull.

If you can't install something and it says it's not signed, digital signing is broken.

To see if you have a digital signing issue, open msinfo32

Go to > software environment > signed drivers

If the right hand side is blank for "signed" or says No for everything, digital signing is broken.

To fix it, do the following:

1 - rename catroot2
2 - start crypto service
3 - Register files in mskb support.microsoft.com/?kbid=813442
4 - uninstall any firewalls/antivirus
5 - look at dx log file for more info

Thank you for your help. Apparently the crypto service was disabled. :)
