I got no idea what else to try. I am using Media Player Classic and just can't get it to play this stuff. Got FFDShow installed. No chance. Downloaded Windows Media Format 11 Runtime, not working too. How do I play it then?

You need a VC1 splitter and decoder. MediaPlayerClassic should tell you what is missing.
Try using 'Media Player Classic – Homecinema' which is a fork of the MPC project.
http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/
It has an integrated decoder for VC1
