XP Professional

Yahoo messenger and AIM can connect to the outside world. But, I am unable to get a web browser to connect to any external sites?

Really weird!

What is the error you are getting? Page can't be displayed maybe? This is Google's IP, http://72.14.207.99/ past it into the address bar and see if you get a page. If you do then your problem is most likely your DNS. Try flushing the DNS cache. Close any open browsers. Click start \ Run and type CMD and hit enter. Type ipconfig /flushdns and hit enter. This will clean out the DNS Cache. Now open your browser and see if you have access.

No change. Error is "Failed to Connect"

Yahoo messenger still works fine.

What browser are you using? IE, Firefox? It could also be a WinSock problem. Download this app for fixing WinSock. WinSock Fix Tool Go to this Tutorial and follow it.
