Sent an email to customer support yesterday about the pro release
To summarize, I told them that I would be unwilling to purchase their product if it did not contain a facility to allow me to perform a completely unattended install with no pop-ups until first run, and no advertising installed on the desktop.

Yeah, I know, it's the Pro version @ $14.99. I'm actually willing to buy it if it meets my requirements. If enough people were to inform them of this need, they might see their way to fixing the broken /S install, and removing the crap from at least the purchased version.

i like it... the new skin in particular. not those tiny teeny buttons as the old releases. always needed a magnifier for those :)
btw, u can use the /S switch and after that "taskkill /im winamp.exe"
but dont forget to disable error reporting via registry right before, otherwise u get an annoyin notification bout a buggy winamp.. hehe

I created a msi file captured with the following settings:

Install type: FULL
No association with video files
No AOL shortcut
No connection to internet

If it works well I could create some msi files with other options (eg. no plugins)

*edit: censored ed2link :)

ed2k/bittorrent links are fine, as long as the download itself is legal :)

Now the question is if repacking a copyrighted application is legal?
I bet under the DMCA it's not, since it involves some sort of reverse engineering.

Any legal experts around? :)

For all the others wondering, it's:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Nullsoft\Winamp]
"regname"="John Doe"
"regkey"="xxxxx/xxxx/xxxx/xxxx"

You have to take the regkey value from an existing installation because it's not the value you enter into the registration form.

Is there a way to change that MSI file so that it does associate with video files but keep all the other settings by any chance? I like to use Winamp as my default

Here are two updated versions:

With video file associations:
ed2k://|file|WinAmp5msi_3.rar|4162544|F1D1719E44940A237948921A4CA91F3B|

Without video file associations:
ed2k://|file|WinAmp5msi_3novid.rar|4163414|9B78B054E2C55E7B4AC9C65E51479151|

I had to deactivate the Sonic ripping/burning feature because of problems with the px2 driver and the msi file.
That's what's Nero and EAC for anyway :)
