It's time for me to do a clean install of Vista and this time I want to try to vLite it.

Hard drive space for me is not an issue, but what I really am after is a faster Vista, not necessarily a smaller one (although I suspect these two go pretty much hand in hand). I am abit skeptical of the whole process, because it seems to cause some trouble with failing updates and such, but it appears if you slipstream SP1 there shouldn't be any major problems.

What components affect the performance if Vista with any significance that can be removed?

I've also gotten the impression that no components whatsoever should be removed if the plan is to slipstream SP1. But isn't this just before the slipstream and not after?

Thanks.

Disable unneeded services and startup programs if performance is what you're after and not disk space.
