okay first of all big thanks for making this tools to help everyone.

Now please hear my problem and if you got an idea of what i might be doing wrong please tell me.

the machine im trying to install windows xp is a DELL Inspirion 6000 running centrino yes the machine is pretty old.

okay i then i open WinSetupFromUSB 0.1 and put my windows source folder that is a geniue Windows XP SP2

and my Kingston 1GB usb stick everything is fine untill that part. the files get transfered on the usb and

i get in my bios and select boot sequence from USB. it boots up the windows setup just fine the first setup procedure

goes ok and then when the blue setup screen comes up it sais 'Setup will complete in approximately 39 minutes' and the

status bar gets stuck at some point and everything freezes up then it goes on for 5-10 minutes like that and it just

restarts, sometimes when i do this it goes down to 25 minutes and the same thing happens again and again

could it be my usb stick? or what?

thanks in advance.

any help much appreciated

This usually indicates a hardware problem or bad/incompatible drivers.

Your best bet is to access Setup log files, found in \windows and examine them, especially the last lines.

setuperr.log

setupapi.log

setuplog.txt

setupact.log

To access them you may use Linux distro with NTFS support, BartPE/Winbuilder disk or similar. If you manage to copy them and post here, hopefully we can spot some clues.

Other things to try- test it with one or another stick of RAM if you have more than one or have spare.

Try with another USB stick or at least rebuild this one, there could be a file not copied properly.

Do you have any drivers slipstreamed in your XP source? Try plain XP SP2/SP3.

thanks for the fast reply friend ill try and get those files.

another thing i should tell you about is that this machine had previously windows xp installed

but at some point they stopped working with a BSOD i tried installing windows xp through windows

even tried to install ubuntu but nothing worked, everytime i was getting errors, could it be the ram?

the hard drive is okay because i took it out and backed up my files everything else seem to work fine
