hello,

everytime i turn the computer on, i get this message:

Posted Image

sometimes it pops up in the user selection screen (that happens if i dont choose a user in a few seconds), and if i choose the user quickly enough, it pops up while my other programs load (at startup).

i tried to change the programs that i have on startup, didn't help.

i have winXP sp2

quite annoying problem, i'd appreciate any help

Check your Event Viewer for any Errors. Post their information when you find them.

However, searching for this message leads to many sites talking about viruses, malware, rootkits, etc.

True - svchost.exe is just a generic host process that can run almost any binary as a service if it's written to do so. That's why these are almost always malware/viruses - great place for non-Microsoft code to hide, inside a Microsoft binary and running all the time as a service.
