why is the search function of MSFN so strange? is there a way to get the default IPB search?

i agree it kinda sucks, you can turn on advanced mode by default in the admin cp, or simply click the button 'more options'

yes.. since you guys made the change to the new search style, it has been almost impossible to ever find what you are looking for.

We haven't changed anything. If you want the Advanced Search as gism0 pointed out, just click on the More Options button.

I just changed it, it now opens in advanced mode by default. Simple mode can be turned on with button at the bottom of the screen.
This kinda defeats the point tho, it starts in simple mode so that newbies arent off put by all the options and boxes.
But see how it goes, its been fine the way it was before until now without complaint while being in full mode before IBF changed it.

remember though, mysql defaults to OR searches, so searching for say "christmas party" will return all threads with either christmas or party, you need to type +christmas +party or "christmas party"

Gism0.. true, only like most engines such as google though, so people should be used to that
