they never were. they just werent a large enough target for the hacker community to care.

I agree,this is preventable!! (People shouldnt just blindly install "Plugins" that say are needed to view media!)

I have gotton those before,all i do is check the script and extract the direct link to the media.. (The plugin isnt needed but most ppl dont know that)
