For deamon tools....have you tried using the switch:

Reboot=Supress

If you notice, supress has only one "p" and not two. Worked for me on my Personal Firewall.

umm...aaronxp, i tried the /qn switch for nsw 2003, but it didn't work. kept giving me errors. /qb worked however.

edit: correction, the /qn reboot=suppress was giving errors. /qn or /qb used by themselves works.

Avast! Professional v4.1
http://www.avast.com/i_idt_152.html

Creating silent installation of avast! program

This option, intended especially for network administrators, makes it possible (and easy) to install avast! on an arbitrary number of computers, without any interference from the users. The installation may contain predefined settings of the program and tasks.

To create the silent installation:

Install avast! on one computer.
Modify the avast! settings exactly as you want them to be on the other computers.
Set the parameters of the tasks (as you want them).
If you wish, set the password to access the resident protection settings (and termination).
In the Enhanced User Interface, select File ® Create Silent Installation.
Set the parameters of the silent installation:
Silent mode - During the installation on the target computers, only error messages will be displayed.
Very silent mode - During the installation on the target computers, no messages will be displayed.
Installation path - Enter the folder to install avast! to (by default, %PRGFILES%\Alwil Software\Avast4).
No reboot - avast! requires the computer to be restarted after the installation. If you select this option, the reboot will not be requested.
Ask for reboot - When the installation is finished, the user will be asked to reboot.
If neither No reboot nor Ask for reboot is checked, the system will be restarted automatically when the installation is finished.
Click the Create button.
Select the folder to store the files necessary for the silent installation.
The following two files will be written to the selected folder: admin.ini and tasks.xml. The file admin.ini contains the settings of the avast! program, the file tasks.xml contains the settings of the particular tasks. If the password for resident protection settings was set, there will be another file in the target folder: aswResp.dat; it contains the encrypted password to access the resident protection settings and termination.
Put these two or three files into a shared folder.
Put the avast! installer into the same folder.
On the target computers, start the avast! installation from this folder.

taken from the avast! help file.

Lavasoft Ad-Aware 6 free Build 181

If you want to install Ad-Aware 6 in a language other than english:

1. Install it in any computer

2. Install the language pack and select your language

3. Copy from "%ProgramFiles%\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware 6\Lang" the three files correponding to your language (YourLanguage.bmp / YourLanguage.det / YourLanguage.ini)

4. Add these YourLanguage.* files to your Windows unattended CD (<cddrive>\$OEM$\install\Applications\Adaware)

5. After Ad-Aware 6 is installed, these files should be copied to "%ProgramFiles%\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware 6\Lang"

6. After logging on, select your language as the default language (this selection is stored in prefs.ini).

Sample code:

ECHO.
ECHO Installing Lavasoft Ad-Aware 6 Build 181
ECHO Please, wait ...
start /wait c:\install\Applications\Adaware\aaw6.exe /silent
rem Copy files for your language
copy /Y c:\install\Applications\Adaware\YourLanguage.* "%ProgramFiles%\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware 6\Lang" >nul
ECHO End - Lavasoft Ad-Aware 6 Build 181

Microsoft IntelliPoint 4.12 RETAIL

The OEMSETUP.EXE trick did not work for me, but here is something that did work:
MSIEXEC.EXE /i "%path to setup folder%\IP4_1.msi" MM="MM" REBOOT="ReallySuppress" /q

Update of the method for installing Nero 6
START :
u need the both exe nero6xxxx.exe and nero6xxxx_<lng>.exe
with winrar, u extract the both files in 2 folders like that
<yourpath>\nero
<yourpath>\nero_lng
u pick up the setup.exe form the first path and u copy it in the second path
(to erase the setup.exe for the language wich is not really cool for silent install)
--------------------------------------------------------------------
then you can use two methods to install the 2 packages
1st method :
use the following commands:
update the registry with a regfile containing the key see in
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ahead\Nero - Burning Rom\Info]
and then :
nero\setup.exe /silent /noreboot
nero_lng\setup.exe /silent

2nd method :
repack the to setup files with winrar to make 2 sfx exe (both with the same setup.exe form 0)
then
in the nero.exe u obtained put the following comment :

Setup=setup.exe /SFX /SN=xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx /WRITE_SN /SILENT /NO_UI /NOCANCEL /NOREBOOT
TempMode
Silent=1
Overwrite=1
Title=Nero 6.0- 6.3.0.3 Ahead Software AG
------------------
where xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx is your serial number
in the langage setup put the following comment :

Setup=Setup.exe /SFX /SILENT /NO_UI /NOCANCEL /NOREBOOT
TempMode
Silent=1
Overwrite=1
Title=Nero 6.0 - <your lang> Language Installer

and launch the 2 setup during your installation....
Et voilą...

Easy CD Creater 6.0 almost silent install

I have tried using the /qb and /qn switches niether one worked,but the /qr switch does.
The /qr switch is used for a reduced interface. The reduced interface show a large status disply of the install but does not ask for any input.

SETUP.EXE /s /v"/qr REBOOT=Suppress REBOOTPROMPT=S"

To have your system reboot automaticaly after the install completes change REBOOT=Suppress to REBOOT=FORCE

The REBOOTPROMPT=S removes the reboot promt when the installation finishes

ACDSeeSystems MSI type installs via Cmd Line: Custom Actions after /QN

License Key PARAMETER for all ACDSee MSI products:
SLL_LICENSENUMBER=XXX-XXX-XXX-XXX-XXX-XXX

Need to suppress a reboot? If yes,
REBOOT=REALLYSUPPRESS

Do we want to register the proggy with a name? If yes,
USERNAME=YOURNAME or USERNAME="Your Name"

CMD Line / Batch Examples
ACDSee 5.0.1 is in a folder @ C:\SilentSetups\ACDSee 5.0.1 Standard.msi. We do not want to enter a USERNAME (FYI: COMPANYNAME is a valid parameter for those who need it). However, we do want to register and suppress a reboot to let other installs follow.

Microsoft Proper (recommended):
msiexec.exe /I "C:\SilentSetups\ACDSee 5.0 Standard.msi" /QN SLL_LICENSENUMBER=XXX-XXX-XXX-XXX-XXX-XXX REBOOT=REALLYSUPPRESS

This also works (we will add our name & do a PowerPack install of v6.0.2):
"C:\SilentSetups\ACDSee 6.0.2 PowerPack.msi" /QN USERNAME="IrfanView Is Free" SLL_LICENSENUMBER=XXX-XXX-XXX-XXX-XXX-XXX REBOOT=REALLYSUPPRESS

Easily Overlooked:
1. Quotes are needed if a parameter's value has spaces. (See above, USERNAME=).
2. PARAMETER=VALUE , not PARAMETER = VALUE. (No spaces!)

Installling a setup.exe? Use:
<path>setup.exe /s /v"/qn PARAMETER=VALUE PARAMETER=VALUE" (We are passing parameters to msi bundled in an exe so make sure /v"/qn does not become /v "/qn

Example: ACD mPower Tools 1.0.2.exe - Silent, UserName, License, Suppress Reboot
"C:\SilentSetups\ACD mPower Tools 1.0.2.exe" /s /v"/qn USERNAME="Why does ACDSee's DB always freeze?" SLL_LICENSENUMBER=XXX-XXX-XXX-XXX-XXX-XXX REBOOT=REALLYSUPPRESS"

**Note** ACDSEE will install per user. Adding ALLUSERS=1 parameter will make ACDSee programs available for all users of a computer.

K-Lite Codecs Packs

I browsed recently to website of K-Lite Codecs Pack. Besides of new versions I found in Tips & Tricks nice info about unattended install:
There's also list of components included in each codecs pack, I didn't copy this as it would mess the whole message :-)

Quote

Guide for creating a custom silent installation for one of the codec packs

STEP 1: Create a file called silent.inf with the following contents:

[Setup]
Lang=en
Dir=C:\Program Files\K-Lite Codec Pack
Group=K-Lite Codec Pack
NoIcons=0
Components=mpclassic, divxdec, divx, xviddec, xvid, 3ivxdec, 3ivx, wmv, mpeg2, vp3, vp6dec, vp6, dvd, indeo, indeo4, indeo32, huffyuv, msmpeg4, mp3audio, wmaaudio, ac3audio, oggvorbis, aac, musepack, voxware, ape, mp3lame, oggvorbissplitter, matroska, vsfilter, matrixmixer, shoutcast, gspot, fourcc, minicalc, disg400, disffdshow

Dir is the path of the destination folder. If you leave out this line, then it will install into the default folder.
Group is the name of the program group that will be created in your startmenu. If you leave out this line, then it will use the default groupname.
When you set NoIcons to 1, then no group will be created in your startmenu.
Components is a comma-separated list of the components that you want to be installed. If you leave out this line, then it will use the default settings for the components list.

Note: The reason why the settings.inf file is used is because command line calls are limited to 256 characters. And because of the long components list that will lead to problems when you include the components parameter in the command line call.

STEP 2: Put the silent.inf file in the same folder as the installer

STEP 3: Now you can perform a silent installation with the following command line call:
INSTALLERFILENAME /verysilent /loadinf=".\silent.inf"

List of component names for the various packages

Note: this list is based on the latest versions of the packs.

Total Commander 6.01
  • Download the installer.
  • Using Total Commander itself, open the installer using CTRL+PGDN
  • Copy install.inf to the other pane using F5. You could also use your favorite packer program like winzip, winrar,... but why bother if you have TC? :)
  • Edit install.inf as follows:
[auto]
auto=1
lang=1
alllang=1
iniloc=c:\totalcmd
iniall=1
mkgroup=1
mkdesktop=1
  • See the section [Languages] to know your language number. If you are reading this forum, you are smart enough to figure out the rest of the file.
  • Put install.inf back in the installer (copy it back using F5).
  • To do an unattended installation, just run the modified installer.
  • If you are a registered user, copy the file wincmd.key in the installation folder.

Thought I'd add this, as in my searching I've not seen it...

When installing Futuremark's PCMark 2004 app, you need to have both Windows Media Player 9, and Media Encoder 9 installed first.

I've seen the switches for WMP9 in here (but not the Media Encoder), and tried them on the Media Encoder. Worked perfectly.

So....

Switch: /Q:A /R:N
Full syntax: WMencoder.exe /Q:A /R:N
Extraction needed: No

*edit* Now that I know this one works fine as well, I'll add it in too;

MACROMEDIA HOMESITE 5

(from my start.cmd file: )

ECHO.
ECHO Registering Homesite 5...
REGEDIT /S %systemdrive%\Install\Applications\Homesite_5\register.reg /f

ECHO.
ECHO Installing Macromedia Homesite 5
ECHO Please wait...
start /wait %systemdrive%\Install\Applications\Homesite_5\setup.exe /-S

(the related .reg file referred to above: )

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_Local_Machine\SOFTWARE\Macromedia\Homesite\5\Registration]
"AppType"="Educational"
"First Name"="Me"
"Last Name"="B"
"Organization"="Whatever your company name is"
"Serial Number"="HSW500-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX"
"Validation"="XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX"

NOTES;

I noticed it worked correctly and didn't require me to enter my name/serial when I put the registration entry before the install entry in the .cmd file.

The info in the registration.reg file I copied from my current Registry files from my original standard install of Homesite 5. Install yours normally, and copy this (your) info from your Registry afterwards for use in the Unattended CD.

My install folder for Homesite 5 (on the XP cd) is 14.4 MB.

Tested and works. :)

Cheers!

B.

Daemon Tools again. Perhaps the problem is people aren't paying attention to the case of the things they're typing? Dunno, but this is what I have and it installs just fine:

start /wait %systemdrive%\install\applications\daemontools\daemon344.msi /qb REBOOT=Suppress

UltraEdit32

Quote

Silent Installation

Installation of UltraEdit is normally performed by executing the uesetup.exe without any parameters. This leads the user through the installation allowing the user to select the appropriate location and options.
When this is done, a file install.sss is created.
In some cases it may be desired to perform a silent installation of UltraEdit to allow automated unattended installations. This is possible with the following setting:
uesetup /s
Under normal circumstances this will perform a silent install with the default settings. Any files that would be required to be downloaded from the WWW normally should be downloaded and in the same directory as the uesetup.exe file to avoid prompting for WWW download.
To customize a silent install, run the uesetup normally selecting the appropriate install options. After this has been completed, copy the install.sss that is created to the directory containing the uesetup.exe and rename it to uesetup.sss any future silent installs will use this file to specify the install options.

Settings are stored in those files (so backup them):
C:\windows\UEDIT32
C:\windows\UEDIT32.INI
<ProgramFiles>\UltraEdit\uedit32.reg
