i managed to replace the Desktop/Show Desktop icon (number 35) in my shell32.dll (and the dllcache version), using Microangelo and Resource Hacker, and i've checked that after restarting windows the new icon is still in there. but this hasn't had any effect on the Show Desktop icon, the Desktop icon that shows in 'Other Places' on the Common Tasks Pane, or the Desktop icon that shows in explorer's Address Bar when exploring the Desktop.

i changed all the other windows icons (network places, control panel, etc.) by changing the registry settings, and this is the only one i can't manage to replace -- it's quite annoying. i'd massively appreciate any help.

(note, i know how to change the Show Desktop icon by having it as a shortcut to the .scf file, but that doesn't help with the other appearances of the icon.)

edit: i've also tried replacing the same icon set in explorer.exe (using Resource Hacker), with no effect
