I have one domain controller running DNS and Routing and remote access, Plus 4 servers each running Win 2003. I also have 45 workstations connected to the same domain. DCHP running on Router only....

My question is this, I just added a new Router and cable internet but I had to add a Primary Static DNS # in the router for my ISP. Also I added in my Domain controllers DNS # also as the secondary. But now I notice that if everyone doesn't add the DNS # of the Domain controller in thier Network settings then the internet will go slow. But this becomes a problem because we have a lot of people that have laptops that can't have a Static DNS # because when they are on the road they can't get internet connection unless they remove the static DNS#.

I thought that the router should automaticlly give out the proper info Via DHCP running on the router.

So what can I do to make sure the internet runs fast even when people don't have a static DNS #??????

Your router should hand out the proper DNS infos. If it doesn't, make sure it was setup properly. Otherwise, install wireshark and do a capture of a DHCP request on one of your machines.

The DHCP in most routers can be quite basic. Personally, I would install DHCP on one of your servers (or DC) and maybe have the router as a secondary DHCP server. :hello:
