russian_tweaker
I have removed Background Intelligent Transfer Service from XP SP3 with nLite. Now it appears that I still need that service(for GTA4 ). How can I restore or re-install BITS? I mean when Windows is installed already, NOT re-nLiteing and re-installing Windows XP SP3.
Kelsenellenelvian
You cannot do so!!You will have to re-install totally. Why do you guys insist on removing services?Just disable the services that way you don't run into this kinda issue.Plus the services really don't save much space! russian_tweaker
You cannot do so!!I'm not so sure about it. There is a list of changes that removed this service. So, when we revert that list, we must be able to restore it, when we have all removed info and components(files from original XP SP3 disk). I have the original disk, so can anyone provide me with that list of changes that made BITS disappear?
Kelsenellenelvian
There are no lists...
SoKoOLz
There are no lists...I agree, there are no lists. If you want to reinstall the service again, I suggest you use your original XP disk to do the recovery and you will get your BITS back. TranceEnergy
i've played gta4 and i dont need the bits service. What makes you think it does? I agree with Kels etc tho, dont remove services normally essential for other functions that one might need.

GTA4 wants Games for Windows, which needs .NET 3.0, which needs BITS. ???

PC_LOAD_LETTER
http://wiki.lunarsoft.net/wiki/Dial-a-fix has an option to re-install BITS and that might work but i still dont understand why you people uninstall services when disabling them serves the EXACT same purpose. the only difference is the time it takes to re-enable.
