So I am just running driver cleaner pro and driver sweeper + a hard delete of the above files yet they keep comming back. I no longer use a nvidia, I just bought an ATI card. Is that normal?

Thanks

nv4_disp.dll & nv4_mini.sys are included with Windows so they are protected files. They aren't being used so no need to worry about them.

So windows has a nvidia drivers integrated? Somehow I'm guessing the ATI drivers are not.

I'm just asking because i'm still being haunted by the BSOD's I got from nv4_disp.dll when I had the 8600 GTS. Hopefully I won't get that anymore with my ATI card.

Sure, XP has some ATI drivers. The display drivers included only give enough functionality for maybe colors and screen resolutions. When I do a clean install I keep an updated driver on my hard drive, if I don't install it then if I have to scroll through anything (web browser or Explorer) it is like watching paint dry.

If you have an ATI card then Windows shouldn't be messing with the nvidia drivers.
