I'm trying to schedule a backup as following:

Mo-Fri: differential back
Sunday: Full Backup

It is a dell server running windows 2000 server and it has a 20/40 gb tape drive. I can backup data just fine, but the scheduled backup jobs don't work at all. When the time comes to run the backup, nothing happens. I'm using the backup utility that comes with windows 2000 server.
If you have any tips for me, or recommend me a different free ware backup program that allows me to schedule backups that would be great.

I have the exact same problem with windows2003 server - the only difference ist:

I want to make a full backup of system - everythings works manually but it
does not work with the schedule option - I am trying for weeks now - who can help us ?????

I think the problem depends on the tape name !

I just checked the backup reports, and this is what is says:


Cannot locate the specified media or backup device. This backup operation will terminate.
