So I'm new to the remote desktop thing, having just gotten DSL. When I use RD on XP I log into the session that is running at my box locally (when connecting remotely using the same username). However, Win2K3 creates a new session for me when I RD in using the same username. Is there a settig that I am overlooking, which would allow RD to function in the same way on Win2K3 as on XP?
Thanks for your help in advance.

This also annoyed me, here's the solution:
mstsc.exe /v:COMPUTERNAME /console
/console will allow you to connect to the console session as if you was on it locally, instead of another session with no background processes which were running locally.
Also, check mstsc.exe /? for a full listing of commands, you can also load your remote desktop (.rdp) profile via command line to get the settings you want.

I used to use autoadminlogon to logon to my server when i turned it on, now i don't have any users logged in. That way when i remote desktop into it i'll only have one user active.
Also, using taskmgr, you can disconnect or logoff the local user.
-gosh

Heya guys.. This only works against 2k3 servers and XP
Anyone know how to do it on win2k??
I know I saw a reg hack for it when 2k came but I can't seem to find it anywhere..
It would be really helpfull if anyone knew how to do it..
Ps. Below are the parameters from the latest built of mstsc.exe
Remote Desktop Connection
MSTSC [<Connection File>] [/v:<server[:port]>] [/console] [/f[ullscreen]]
[/w:<width> /h:<height>] | /Edit"ConnectionFile" | /Migrate | /?
<Connection File> -- specifies the name of an .rdp file for the
connection.
/v:<server[:port]> -- specifies the terminal server to which you want
to connect.
/console -- connects to the console session of a server.
/f -- Starts the client in full-screen mode.
/w:<width> -- specifies the width of the Remote Desktop screen.
/h:<height> -- Specifies the height of the Remote Desktop screen.
/edit -- Opens the specified .rdp file for editing.
/migrate -- migrates legacy connection files that were created with
Client Connection Manager to new .rdp connection files.
/? -- generates this Usage message.
