I am having a bit of a problem and I hope someone here will know the answer to my question

I am beginning with the official SP1 iso and using vlite to remove components which are not required for media center, windows update and the "normal" network stuff such as shared folders etc.

The problem is that once installed and running windows update, there is something occuring which causes vista to reboot continually. It boots, gets to preparing updates stage 3, shows welcome then shuts down and reboots. This is likely related to an update (which I havent managed to narrow down yet). Has anyone experienced anything similar or does anyone know which component I am removing that could be causing this?

Same here. I did have a settings file at one point that did not cause the loop, but somehow lost it and don't know which change causes the problem. Looks like I'll have to play around some more because I need to install another system. By the way, the loop happens with both Windows update and Autopatcher and I thought I read something about removing windows mail causing the problem, but I have that unchecked so it is something different

So is there solution for this problem? I integrated just one update (hold'em) and upon first boot windows shuts down and keeps doing it each time pc logs to the screen "pls wait while windows is configuring updates" or something like that.
I thought this is caused by windows update and winsxs removal with extreme switch but after tryng to keep those both I had the same problem. Tested on x86 machine with vista ultimate.
Maybe someone found a solution and can share? what would be "keep list" for updating integrated hotfixes to work?

you should post your Last Session.ini. Mostly this is caused by removing WLAN

always keep such important thing like Firewall, Update and UAC and if you don't want to use them DISABLE them.
